My purpose as a teacher is to share everything I know with my students. 

In my 39 years of teaching, I have come to the realization that everything I have learned in every subject, every aspect of life, adds up to the sum total of how to play music! 

Everything is part of the creative experience to enable us to function both from the right brain and the left brain.  What I mean by this is:  the right brain does things by instinct (i.e., throwing a ball, riding a bike, cooking, art, creative writing and playing music).

These are just a few examples of what I have in mind.  The left brain is where we store actual learned information - like learning to read by learning the alphabet first and the formation of words and sentences or knowing how to read music as a means to just playing.

My function as a music teacher, as I see it, is to merge the right and left brain learning into just playing music. 

At E-LANA.COM, I want to share stories, ideas, and all kinds of fun things that add up to playing the way I do. 

E-LANA.COM works both ways:  I invite everyone's stories, pet photos, artwork, and ideas. I will post your work to the Contribution Balloon  which will be updated weekly.  YOU will have ONE assignment per month to fulfill and return to me.  Each assignment will be FUN and NOT WORK.  The idea is to enjoy this as much as I do presenting it.
